Minnesota woman pleads not guilty to drug charge after Floyd County traffic stop

CHARLES CITY — The trial date has been set for a Minnesota woman arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop in Floyd County earlier this month.

The Charles City Police Department says in a criminal complaint that they pulled over 57-year-old Denise Tipton of Waseca at about 12:45 on the morning of October 9th in the 1300 block of Gilbert Street for a taillight that was not working.

The department’s K-9 unit was deployed and had a positive alert on the vehicle. During a search, police say they recovered one clear baggie with 9.24 grams of methamphetamine along with several small baggies and a scale.

Tipton was charged with possession with the intent to deliver meth, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.

She filed a written plea of not guilty and demand of speedy trial on Monday in Floyd County District Court. Her trial is scheduled to start on December 9th.
