NIACC basketball teams open up season with victories in Konigsmark Klassic

MASON CITY — The NIACC basketball teams are 2-0 after opening weekend wins at home as part of the Konigsmark Klassic. The 17th-ranked NIACC women opened the season Friday night with a 101-36 win over Blackhawk Technical College. Peyton Meincke led the Trojans with 13 points while Reggi Spotts added 10. NIACC had no problem on Saturday in a 92-58 win over Elgin Community College. Sports had 20 points while Machaela Trask added 10. The NIACC women travel to the Lake Region State College Classic in Devils Lake North Dakota this weekend to face Lake Region State and Williston State College.  

== The NIACC men opened the season with a 95-68 win over Blackhawk Technical College on Friday night, with sophomore Lance Helming having 12 points and 12 rebounds, with Jacob Martin leading the way with 20 points. The Trojans on Saturday edged Black Hawk College 83-77. Martin had a game-high 26 points and also grabbed nine rebounds. NIACC travels to the DMACC Classic in Boone this weekend to play Spoon River College and Moraine Valley Community College.
