CG Public Health receives “Age-Friendly Public Health System” designation

MASON CITY — The Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health has been recognized as an “Age-Friendly Public Health System”. The designation is made by the Trust for America’s Health and the John Hartford Foundation.
The national recognition highlights the department’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of older adults across the community.
The Age-Friendly Health System initiative is dedicated to ensuring that public health services and programs are proactively designed to support healthy aging. CG Public Health successfully met a rigorous set of criteria demonstrating its work to promote inclusive, accessible, and proactive public health strategies for older adults.
The Age-Friendly Health System framework encourages agencies to adopt specific evidence-based practices, such as working with community partners to address social isolation, improving access to preventative care, and focusing on programs that help older residents age safely in place.
