SCHOOL ELECTION RESULTS — Charles City turns down $30 million bond, results from contested races

CHARLES CITY — Charles City voters turned down a $30 million bond referendum on Tuesday to pay for renovation and improvements to Charles City High School and address other issues. Bond issue funds would have addressed a number of issues for the building that was constructed over 65 years ago, including getting the building ADA compliant. The district had also looked at constructing a new music complex, student commons and entrance to the high school. Only 47% of the district’s voters approved the measure, well below the 60% needed for passage.
