Clear Lake man accused of child sexual abuse pleads guilty to lesser charge
CLEAR LAKE — A Clear Lake man accused of child sexual abuse has entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors.
43-year-old Cole Gilbertson is accused of committing a sexual act against a 13-year-old child sometime between June 2022 and June 2023. He’s also accused of indecent exposure on more than one occasion in the presence of a child between June 2021 and June 2024.
Gilbertson was arrested in early April and charged with one count of second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony, as well as indecent exposure, a serious misdemeanor.
Gilbertson earlier this week entered into a plea deal, pleading guilty to the lesser charge of lascivious acts with a minor, a Class D felony, as well as the indecent exposure charge. No recommendation was made by prosecutors or the defense on an agreement for sentencing.
Gilbertson’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for December 16th in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
