“Owling at the Moon” is People’s Choice winner for this year’s River City Sculptures on Parade exhibit

MASON CITY — The “Best in Show” winner of the annual “River City Sculptures on Parade” exhibit is also the winner of this year’s “People’s Choice” award. Viewers of the exhibit placed throughout downtown Mason City cast ballots each year to voice their opinion on their favorite sculpture.
The organization’s Mary Markwalter announced the winner at this week’s City Council meeting. “It was designed and built by artists Gary Hovey and Jim Perrine (pair-in) of Hoveyware Sculptures in New Knoxville, Ohio. The sculpture is called “Owling at the Moon”, and it is currently located on East State Street, if you want to go see it. It will stay here in Mason City now.”
Since the start of the sculpture program, the city has agreed to purchase the “People’s Choice” winner for permanent display on the sculpture walk.
