Veterans Day ceremonies held in Mason City

MASON CITY — Veterans Day ceremonies were held across north-central Iowa on Tuesday, including in Central Park in downtown Mason City.

Mason City mayor Bill Schickel says the community remains strong because of the actions of those who served in the military. “At a time such as this, when the headlines can make us question what holds us together, ceremonies like this remind us that the foundation remains strong. Built by all of you, built by those who quietly served day after day, expecting nothing in return.”

Schickel says Veterans Day is more than about remembrance. “It’s also about honoring those who never stop serving. The phrase ‘honoring those who never stop serving’ captures the spirit of the men and women who strengthen our community, long after their formal military service has ended.”

It was the 104th anniversary of Veterans Day being celebrated by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.
