Mason City man accused of being in high speed chase, possessing drugs enters into plea agreement

MASON CITY — A Mason City man facing multiple felony charges after being involved in a high speed chase and having drugs has entered into a plea agreement. 

A criminal complaint says an Iowa State Patrol trooper attempted to stop 46-year-old Dack Ogg for a speeding violation in Mason City at 1:45 AM on August 8th when he sped away at a high rate of speed. The State Patrol says he traveled at speeds up to 112 miles per hour before being stopped. After his arrest, Ogg was allegedly found to be in possession of a plastic baggie containing 15.4 grams of meth as well as marijuana dabs.

Ogg was charged with: possession of meth with the intent to deliver, a Class B felony; third offense possession of marijuana, failure to affix a drug tax stamp, and eluding, all Class D felonies; as well as the aggravated misdemeanors of operating while intoxicated second offense and habitual offender driving while barred.

As part of a plea deal with prosecutors, Ogg has now pleaded guilty to the eluding and OWI charges. No recommendation for sentencing was made as part of the plea deal, but if Ogg is accepted into drug court, prosecutors will recommend a suspended sentence and probation with drug court a condition of probation.

Ogg is scheduled to be sentenced on December 1st.
