CEDAR FALLS — Van Meter scored twice in the second half to beat Osage 14-6 in the Class 2A semifinal round of the high school football playoffs on Saturday at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. After a scoreless first quarter, Quinn Street hooked up with Griffin Uhlenhopp for a 32-yard touchdown pass to get the Green Devils on the board with 1:56 to go in the second quarter. Van Meter took the lead 7-6 with 5:11 left in the third quarter on a two-yard run by Christian Williams. With 7:57 left in the fourth quarter, Street was intercepted by Tate Doggett, who returned the ball to the Osage five yard line, leading to another Williams touchdown four plays later. Osage ends their season with an 11-1 record, while Van Meter advances to the Class 2A championship game coming up on Friday. They’ll face Kuemper of Carroll, who beat Wilton 49-21 in the other 2A semifinal.
