Mason City Man Sentenced to 25 Years in Federal Prison for Meth Trafficking and Gun Charge

A Mason City man will spend the next 25 years in federal prison following a major methamphetamine trafficking investigation in North Iowa.
33-year-old Darius Stackhouse of Mason City was sentenced in federal court to 300 months in prison after a jury found him guilty of multiple drug trafficking charges and possessing a firearm during a drug crime.
According to federal court records, Stackhouse was part of a long-running drug conspiracy based in Mason City between June of 2021 and March of 2023. Investigators say he distributed more than 40 pounds of methamphetamine during that time, including several pounds sold directly to sources working with law enforcement.
During the execution of multiple search warrants, officers recovered more than $30,000 in cash, additional controlled substances, and a firearm from Stackhouse’s residence.
Stackhouse was sentenced in Sioux City by Leonard T. Strand and will also serve five years of supervised release following his prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
The investigation was led by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ron Timmons.
