Riverhawk Girls Take Second at Newton Invite; Collins Leads with Career Best

The Mason City Riverhawk girls bowling team delivered a strong performance at the Newton Invite on Saturday morning, finishing second overall with a team score of 2,443—despite competing without one of their team captains.

Senior captain Abri Collins stepped up in a big way, leading the Riverhawks with a career-best game of 210, followed by a 159 to place fifth individually.

Several other Mason City bowlers also turned in standout performances:

  • Kylie Novak: 183, 159 – 342 total

  • Emily Bailey: 180 (career best), 149 – 329 total (career best series)

  • Madison Hughes: 170, 157 – 327 total

  • Raeanna Traurig: 101, 171 – 272 total

  • Aubrey Lingbeek: 140, 126 – 266 total

The host team, Newton, won the invite with a score of 2,524, while Mason City edged out Waukee for second place. Final team standings were:

  1. Newton – 2,524

  2. Mason City – 2,443

  3. Waukee – 2,388

  4. Pella – 2,203

  5. Oskaloosa – 2,030

  6. Sigourney – 1,947

  7. Gilbert – 1,866

  8. Knoxville – 1,683

The Riverhawks will look to build on the strong outing as the season continues.
