Eastern Iowa Man Claims $1 Million Powerball Prize

An eastern Iowa man was at the Iowa Lottery’s main office in central Iowa today to claim a $1 million Powerball prize.

Iowa Lottery officials say William Zak of Dysart bought a Powerball ticket at the Kwik Star in Vinton for last Saturday’s drawing. His ticket matched the first five numbers in the December 20, 2025 drawing, but missed the Powerball number.

Lottery officials say the ticket was one of just eight sold nationwide that won a $1 million prize in that drawing.

A ticket sold in Arkansas matched all the numbers in the Christmas Eve Powerball drawing to win a $1.8 billion jackpot. Iowa Lottery officials say more than $4.5 million in tickets were sold in Iowa for the last two Powerball drawings.
