A vehicle drove through the front entrance of Hampton-Dumont High School Saturday night, causing damage to the building but no injuries.
School officials say the vehicle entered through the front of the high school, traveled through the cafeteria, and struck the lunch line door. The Hampton Police Department responded to the scene, along with school building and grounds staff.
No students or staff members were inside the building at the time, and no injuries were reported.
District officials say a temporary enclosure has been installed at the front entrance to secure the building. They thanked ProWall and Trevor Reysack for assisting with securing the damaged area.
Administrators say a re-entry plan will be developed before students return to school on January 5, 2026. Officials say the building will be inspected to ensure it is structurally sound, safe, and free of debris before classes resume.
High school students are being advised to watch for updates regarding a revised entrance plan and other information. The district is asking the public to avoid the front of the building while cleanup and repairs continue.
School officials say the basketball camp scheduled at the high school will still take place in the new gym. Camp participants are asked to enter and exit through the new gym entrance and avoid the hallway leading to the high school cafeteria.
