Mason City Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Federal Prison for Methamphetamine Distribution

A man tied to a Mason City-based methamphetamine trafficking operation has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.
Charles Robinson, 44, of Chicago, Illinois, was sentenced today after pleading guilty on Sept. 2, 2025, to conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.
According to court documents, Robinson was involved in an ongoing methamphetamine distribution conspiracy from at least May 2023 through September 2024. Investigators said the conspiracy operated out of Mason City, and law enforcement documented Robinson actively participating in drug trafficking during the timeframe.
Robinson was sentenced in Sioux City by U.S. District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand to 120 months in prison. After completing his sentence, he will serve five years of supervised release. Federal sentences do not include parole.
Robinson remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service as he awaits transport to a federal prison.
The case was investigated by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ron Timmons.
