Hy-Vee Pharmacies Begin Offering New Wegovy Pill Through GoodRx

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Jan. 9, 2026 — Hy-Vee, Inc. says patients can now fill prescriptions for the newly FDA-approved Wegovy® pill (oral semaglutide) at Hy-Vee Pharmacy locations across the Midwest through a collaboration with GoodRx.

Hy-Vee said the once-daily tablet is available through GoodRx at a cash price of $149 per month for the two lowest doses (1.5 mg and 4 mg), with a valid prescription. The FDA approved the Wegovy pill in late December, making it the first oral GLP-1 treatment cleared in the U.S. for chronic weight management in adults.

How to get the $149 GoodRx price at Hy-Vee
Hy-Vee said eligible patients can access the GoodRx savings in either of two ways:

  • Show a GoodRx coupon for Wegovy at any Hy-Vee Pharmacy location, or

  • Scan the RxSmartSaver powered by GoodRx QR code at the pharmacy counter to unlock the same savings on a smartphone.

Hy-Vee also highlighted in-store support for people taking GLP-1 medications, including products and supplements in its pharmacy and HealthMarket departments, as well as one-on-one dietitian services offered virtually and in person. The company said some dietitian services may be covered by insurance.

What Wegovy is approved to do
Wegovy is approved for chronic weight management along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. It is also approved to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events in certain adults with known heart disease, according to prescribing information and reports on the approval.

Side effects and safety
Hy-Vee noted patients may experience side effects. Commonly reported side effects for semaglutide-based treatments can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain and stomach upset. Patients should talk with their prescriber or pharmacist about risks, side effects and whether the medication is appropriate for them.
