LD’s Filling Station Closed After Vehicle Crashes Into Building in Mason City

MASON CITY, Iowa — LD’s Filling Station in Mason City remains closed after a vehicle crashed into the front of the restaurant Thursday, causing minor injuries to multiple people.
According to police, a couple in a vehicle accidentally drove forward into the building instead of backing up at around 11 a.m., striking the restaurant’s exterior wall. The driver and passenger suffered minor injuries.
Police said three people who were inside the restaurant at the time also sustained minor injuries. Two were transported to the hospital for evaluation, while a third person declined medical treatment.
The Mason City building inspector and the health department will determine when the restaurant can safely reopen. No charges have been filed.
LD’s Filling Station previously closed in 2022 after a fire was set inside the restaurant. The business was shut down for nearly a year before reopening.
