Twedt-Ball to speak in Mason City as part of ‘Pints and Politics’ series Monday
MASON CITY — Clint Twedt-Ball, a Democratic candidate for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District, is scheduled to speak Monday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. at Lorados Bar and Grill in Mason City.
The event is part of the “Pints and Politics” series hosted by the Cerro Gordo County Democrats. Organizers say Twedt-Ball will outline his campaign message of bridging political divides while focusing on issues including affordable health care, affordable housing, support for the farm economy, and strengthening rural communities in northeast Iowa.
Twedt-Ball is also expected to take questions from the audience and hear from local residents about their priorities. Media availability is planned prior to the start of the event, according to organizers.
About the candidate
Twedt-Ball is a United Methodist pastor and the founder of Matthew 25, a Cedar Rapids nonprofit focused on housing, food, and education. His campaign says he helped lead recovery efforts following the 2008 flood and the 2020 derecho, with Matthew 25 recruiting volunteers, rehabbing homes, and supporting neighborhood reinvestment in Cedar Rapids.
About the race
Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District covers much of northeast Iowa, including communities such as Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Waverly, Waterloo, and Grinnell. The campaign notes the seat is expected to be open this cycle and points to national race ratings that have drawn attention to the district.
