Mason City Honors Fallen Iowa National Guard Soldiers with Proclamations

MASON CITY, Iowa — Mason City Mayor John P. Lee has issued two proclamations recognizing the service and sacrifice of Iowa National Guard soldiers, designating Tuesday, Jan. 13, as SSG Edgar Brian Torres-Tovar Day and SSG William Nathaniel Howard Day.
The proclamations were made in solidarity with the Iowa National Guard and the Iowa Mayors’ Association, honoring Staff Sgt. Torres-Tovar and Staff Sgt. Howard and acknowledging “the extraordinary sacrifice” of both soldiers, as well as the service of all Iowa National Guard members.
Representing the Iowa National Guard at the proclamation signing were WO1 Brent Miller and Sgt. Zach Thompson.
