United Way of North Central Iowa Seeks Volunteers for 2026 Community Impact Teams

MASON CITY — United Way of North Central Iowa is inviting residents to play a hands-on role in strengthening local communities by serving as volunteers on its 2026 Community Impact Teams.

The Community Impact Volunteer program allows community members to help determine how donor dollars are invested in nonprofit organizations serving north central Iowa. Volunteers review funding applications from local agencies that address key community needs in education, income stability and health, helping ensure that funding decisions are fair, transparent and aligned with local priorities.

United Way officials say anyone interested in the success of the community is encouraged to participate. Volunteers gain valuable insight into the region’s nonprofit landscape while working alongside others committed to improving quality of life across the area.

Volunteers may serve as Panel Chairs or Panel Members. Panel Chairs lead review teams and represent their group during final allocation discussions, while Panel Members assist by reviewing applications and attending agency presentations. All volunteers receive training and participate in structured discussions throughout the allocation process.

The review process is conducted through an online system, allowing volunteers to access materials digitally rather than using paper binders, making participation more convenient and accessible.

Key dates for the 2026 Community Impact Volunteer process include training on March 4, group discussion meetings from March 23–27, agency presentation days from March 30 through April 3, an executive committee meeting on April 6, and final board approval of allocations on April 30.
