Clear Lake Chamber Celebrates Community Leadership at Annual Meeting

CLEAR LAKE — More than 240 business leaders, community partners and residents gathered at the historic Surf Ballroom on Thursday, Jan. 15, for the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 Annual Meeting, Visitor Guide Reveal and Awards Celebration.

The event, held from 2 to 5 p.m., highlighted a year of progress and collaboration while recognizing individuals and organizations whose service and entrepreneurial spirit continue to strengthen North Iowa. Attendees enjoyed a happy hour and appetizers beginning at 2 p.m., followed by the annual meeting and awards program at 3 p.m.

Six awards were presented during the celebration:

• First Mate of the Year: Drew Walswick

• Larry Luker Volunteer of the Year: Taylor Barragy

• Spirit of North Iowa: North Iowa Community Action Organization

• Entrepreneur of the Year: Gyro Place

• Business of the Year: Starboard Market

• Service Above Self: Former Clear Lake Mayor Nelson Crabb

For the second consecutive year, the Chamber incorporated a progressive bingo fundraiser into the program. Five games were played throughout the awards celebration, with proceeds benefiting the construction of the new Chamber and Welcome Center. Bingo cards were offered at increasing price points, allowing guests to participate at their preferred level.

Chamber officials thanked attendees for their continued support and emphasized the importance of partnership and community engagement in shaping Clear Lake’s future. The annual meeting also marked the official reveal of the 2026 Visitor Guide, showcasing the area’s attractions, businesses and events.

The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce noted that the strong turnout and enthusiasm reflected the community’s shared commitment to building a bright future for local businesses and residents alike.

The event took place at the Surf Ballroom & Museum, located at 460 North Shore Drive in Clear Lake.
