Lundgren Suspends US House Campaign
Peosta Republican Plans To Run For Re-election to State House Seat

State Representative Shannon Lundgren announced on Monday that she is suspending her campaign for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District and will instead seek re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives. Lundgren, a Republican from Peosta, said she decided to end her congressional bid to focus on her work in the Legislature and to run again for her current seat representing House District 65. She launched her congressional campaign in September 2025, running on a conservative platform aligned with President Donald Trump’s agenda.
Two other Republican candidates, four Democrat candidates, and one Independent, are vying for the seat currently held by US Representative Ashley Hinson, who is running for the seat being vacated by US Senator Joni Ernst this fall.
The 2nd Congressional District serves Waterloo and Cedar Falls, as well as Mason City, Cedar Rapids and Dubuque .
