Hy-Vee Introduces Dietitian Dishes, New Line of Medically Tailored Frozen Meals

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Hy-Vee has launched Dietitian Dishes, a new line of frozen, medically tailored meals developed by the company’s registered dietitians to support customers managing specific dietary needs, including heart-friendly and diabetes-friendly diets.
Announced Feb. 2, 2026, the single-serve entrees are available in the frozen section of Hy-Vee’s HealthMarket department and online. Hy-Vee said the lineup includes more than 15 varieties featuring options such as Egg Roll in a Bowl, Braised Beef, Mediterranean Chicken, and Spicy Layered Chicken Enchiladas.
The heat-and-eat meals are made with whole-food ingredients and can be prepared in a microwave in five minutes or less, according to the company.
“Dietitian Dishes make healthy eating easier, especially for individuals who are just learning how to navigate chronic conditions like diabetes or heart disease,” said Elisa Sloss, Hy-Vee’s assistant vice president of HealthMarkets and dietitians. “These dietitian-inspired entrees offer convenient, nutritious meal solutions that are packed with delicious flavor, contain key nutrients and can be prepared within minutes.”
Hy-Vee said it is among the first grocers in the country to develop its own medically tailored meal line, part of its broader effort to offer more health-focused shopping tools and services. The company noted it recently introduced an online food scoring system designed to help shoppers identify “better-for-you” options. Hy-Vee dietitians also provide personalized nutrition counseling, available in person and virtually, with insurance billing available.
Hy-Vee plans to expand the Dietitian Dishes line over time with additional meals geared toward specific health and dietary needs.
