The Charles City Community School District’s ELL (English Language Learner) Department will be hosting a Culture Fair on Saturday, March 21 at the Charles City Middle School gym, giving the community a chance to experience and learn about cultures represented in the local schools. ELL teacher Megan Nyberg joined us on Community Conversations to talk about the purpose behind the event, what visitors can expect, and the different cultures that will be represented. The fair will feature cultural displays, food samples, games, and special presentations from cultural ambassadors sharing traditions from around the world. Tickets are $10 each and must be purchased in advance at the Washington, Lincoln, or Charles City Middle School front offices. Attendance is limited.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
