West Hancock Schedules March Meetings for incoming Kindergarten and Preschool Families

BRITT — The West Hancock Community School District has announced upcoming informational meetings for parents of children who may be eligible for kindergarten-prep, kindergarten, or preschool during the 2026–27 school year.

A Kindergarten-Prep/Kindergarten Roundup meeting will be held Thursday, March 26, at 6:30 p.m. at West Hancock Elementary. Doors will open at 6 p.m. The meeting is intended for parents only.

Children must be 5 years old by Sept. 15, 2026, to be eligible for kindergarten or kindergarten-prep. Parents whose children are not currently enrolled at West Hancock should bring immunization records and proof of age, such as a birth certificate, passport, or military ID.

The district will also hold a Preschool Roundup meeting on Tuesday, March 31, at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. This meeting is also for parents only and is intended for families of children in Britt and Kanawha who will be eligible for preschool during the 2026–27 school year.

To qualify for preschool, children must be 3 or 4 years old by Sept. 15, 2026. Parents attending the meeting should bring immunization records and proof of age, such as a birth certificate, passport, or military ID.

According to the district, pre-registration will not begin before the March 31 meeting. Section preference and preschool sign-ups for both 3- and 4-year-old students will be determined based on meeting attendance and the time documentation is received.
