Mason City Man Sentenced to 13 Years in Federal Prison for Methamphetamine Distribution

MASON CITY, Iowa — A Mason City man has been sentenced to more than 13 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to charges connected to a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy.

According to federal prosecutors, 45-year-old Kevin Knight was involved in a methamphetamine distribution operation in Mason City between January 2024 and February 2025. Investigators documented Knight’s role in the drug trade during the course of the investigation.

Court records show Knight also has an extensive criminal history, including convictions for theft, forgery, burglary, domestic abuse assault, and four previous methamphetamine-related offenses.

U.S. District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand sentenced Knight to 156 months in federal prison. He will also serve a five-year term of supervised release following his prison sentence.

Because the federal system does not offer parole, Knight will be required to serve his sentence in prison before beginning supervised release.

Knight is currently in the custody of the United States Marshal while awaiting transfer to a federal correctional facility.
