Branstad Endorses Feenstra for Iowa Governor

DES MOINES, IOWA — Former Iowa Governor and U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad has endorsed Republican Congressman Randy Feenstra in the race for Iowa governor, according to an announcement released Tuesday.

Branstad, who served multiple terms as Iowa’s governor and later as ambassador to China during President Donald Trump’s first administration, praised Feenstra’s conservative record and leadership.

“I’m proud to endorse conservative Randy Feenstra for Governor,” Branstad said. “With his bold vision to take Iowa to new heights, I’m confident he will deliver conservative results for Iowa — and leave the state better than he found it.”

Branstad highlighted Feenstra’s role in passing tax cuts and supporting federal legislation, including “Sarah’s Law,” which he said focuses on detaining and prosecuting undocumented immigrants who commit serious crimes.

“Both Randy and I have worked with President Trump to make Iowa and America strong,” Branstad added. “I know that, as Governor, Randy will fully implement the America First agenda in Iowa.”

Feenstra, who currently represents Iowa’s 4th Congressional District, said he was honored to receive Branstad’s endorsement and pointed to their shared policy priorities.

“I’m honored to be endorsed by Ambassador Branstad, a great Governor and strong ally of President Trump,” Feenstra said. “I was proud to work with him to cut taxes, invest in education, support Iowa agriculture, and grow our economy.”

Feenstra also framed the endorsement as a key moment in the gubernatorial race, signaling momentum for his campaign.

“With Governor Branstad’s endorsement, I know that we will defeat Extreme Liberal Rob Sand and keep our state red,” he said.

Branstad has also published an op-ed outlining his support for Feenstra in The Cedar Rapids Gazette.

The endorsement adds a prominent Republican voice to the race as candidates continue to position themselves ahead of the upcoming election.
