Feenstra Launches ‘Farmers for Feenstra’ Coalition with Support from Iowa Producers

HULL, Iowa — U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra announced the launch of his “Farmers for Feenstra” coalition on National Agriculture Day, highlighting support from more than 100 farmers and producers across Iowa as part of his campaign for governor.
According to Feenstra, the coalition includes farmers representing a wide range of Iowa’s agricultural sectors, including corn, soybeans, cattle, hogs, turkeys, dairy, eggs and biofuels.
“I’m excited to announce the launch of our Farmers for Feenstra coalition, a large group of Iowa farmers who believe in our mission to take Iowa to new heights,” Feenstra said. “Born and raised in Northwest Iowa, I know that agriculture is the backbone of our economy and rural communities, and that’s why, as governor, I will make Iowa the most business- and ag-friendly state in the country.”
Feenstra said his priorities include lowering input costs for farmers, expanding export opportunities, strengthening crop insurance programs and supporting Iowa-based biofuels.
“My record of delivering for the Iowa farmer is clear,” he said. “I’ve worked to deliver additional relief from the death tax, lower the cost of crop insurance for the next generation, and keep our farmland away from China. As governor, I will build on that foundation and continue to be the strongest voice for our farmers and Iowa agriculture.”
The coalition includes farmers from dozens of counties across the state, as well as several current state lawmakers, such as Sen. Tom Shipley of Adams County, Sen. Annette Sweeney of Hardin County and Sen. Mark Costello of Mills County.
Supporters also represent many of Iowa’s key agricultural regions, including Sioux, Story, Plymouth, Woodbury, Webster and Worth counties, among others.
Feenstra’s campaign said the full list of coalition members includes more than 100 individuals from across Iowa who are backing his bid to lead the state with a focus on agriculture and rural economic growth.
