Free Skating Event Aims to Build Community Connections with Mason City Police

MASON CITY — The Mason City Police Department’s Unit 18 is inviting the community to lace up their skates and spend an afternoon connecting with local officers at a free, family-friendly event next month.
“Skating with the Law” will take place on April 12, 2026, at Roller City, offering residents a chance to enjoy skating, activities, and conversations with law enforcement in a relaxed setting.
The event will run from 1 to 3 p.m. for open skate, followed by blacklight dodgeball from 3 to 4 p.m.
In addition to skating, attendees can look forward to door prizes, pizza, police vehicle tours, and an opportunity to meet Kilo, the department’s K9.
Organizers say the event is designed to strengthen relationships between officers and the community while providing a fun and welcoming environment for families and youth.
The event is free and open to the public.
