Mason City Fire Crews Respond to Early Morning House Fire; No Injuries Reported

MASON CITY — The Mason City Fire Department responded to a residential fire early Tuesday morning on 12th Street SE.
According to officials, crews were dispatched at approximately 7:24 a.m. and arrived to find all occupants safely outside the home.
Firefighters located an exterior fire near the back door and quickly worked to extinguish it. Inside the home, crews reported light smoke but no active flames.
Ventilation efforts were carried out, and sections of aluminum siding were removed to ensure the fire had not spread into the structure.
Investigators determined the fire was caused by the improper disposal of smoking materials.
No injuries were reported. The occupants are currently staying with family, according to the fire department.
