Gary Colsen, 70, of Rudd

Gary Colsen, 70, of Rudd, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2026, at his home.

A visitation for Gary Colsen will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City.

Gary Wayne Colsen was born on June 4, 1955, in Minnesota, the beloved son of Roy and Selina (Goldsmith) Colsen. One of ten children welcomed into the Colsen family, Gary grew up surrounded by the warmth, laughter, and close bonds that only a large, loving family can provide. Those early years shaped the man he would become, someone who valued family above all else.

In 1999, Gary married the love of his life, Jewel Colsen. Though their time together was cut short when Jewel passed away in 2009, the decade they shared was marked by love, companionship, and devotion. Gary carried her memory with him every day of his life thereafter, and he is now reunited with her once again.

Gary is also preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Selina Colsen, who raised their children with devotion and love, and by his siblings Randy Colsen and Vivian Graves, whose memories he carried close to his heart.

He is survived by his cherished daughter, Toni Early, and her husband, Justin, of Texas. Gary took great pride in his grandchildren: KayLee Farrell, Jordan Sambursky, Daniel Conway, Kiana Early, Zechariah Early, Elijah Early, and Matthias Early. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he delighted in watching them grow.

Gary also leaves behind his siblings, all of Minnesota: Robert Colsen, Richard Colsen, Leann Colsen, Victor Colsen, Vicky Johnson, Rocky Colsen, and Leroy Colsen. The bond among the Colsen siblings was a gift that spanned decades, filled with shared memories, family gatherings, and an unwavering connection to their Minnesota roots.

In addition to his immediate family, Gary leaves behind his brothers- and sisters-in-law, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends who cherished his presence in their lives. His kindness, his stories, and his love for those around him touched many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Though Gary has passed from this life on April 11, 2026, his memory lives on in the hearts of his family and friends with every family gathering, every shared memory, and every life he touched along the way. May he now rest peacefully alongside Jewel, together again.

Rest in peace, Gary. You are loved, and you will be remembered.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
