Mason City Earth Day Cleanup Underway, Volunteers Encouraged to Participate

MASON CITY, Iowa — The annual Mason City Earth Day Cleanup is now underway, inviting residents to help beautify the community as part of a broader effort tied to Earth Day.
The cleanup event runs from April 18 through May 1, giving individuals, families, and organized groups time to sign up and tackle litter in designated areas across the city. Volunteers can register for specific cleanup locations using the city’s online map system.
City officials say registered teams will be provided with litter bags and trash hauling services at no cost, making it easier for participants to focus on improving local neighborhoods, parks, and roadways.
Those interested in participating can sign up online or contact the City of Mason City’s Volunteer Coordinator by calling 641-421-3372 or emailing [email protected] to reserve a cleanup area.
The Earth Day Cleanup also serves as the kickoff for Mason City’s year-round Community Wide Cleanup program. Residents who want to stay involved beyond the spring event can participate in the Adopt-A-Street and Adopt-A-Lot programs, which encourage volunteers to collect litter three times a year—in the spring, summer, and fall.
City leaders say the ongoing initiative offers flexible opportunities for individuals and groups to make a lasting impact on the community’s appearance and environment.
For more information or to get involved, residents are encouraged to contact the Volunteer Coordinator or explore additional opportunities through the City of Mason City.
