Una Vocis to Present Spring Concert in Mason City

MASON CITY, Iowa — Una Vocis, North Iowa’s premier auditioned choral ensemble, will present its spring concert, Through Darkness into Light, on Saturday, May 9.
The performance begins at 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave. in Mason City.
Under the direction of Dennis Lee, the concert explores the many dimensions of the human experience, including challenge, beauty, uncertainty, and resilience. The program brings together a range of musical selections that reflect these themes.
Featured works include selections from Mozart’s Requiem, as well as pieces by contemporary composers such as Carol Barnett and Amelia Ouverson. The concert will conclude with Ivo Antognini’s Come to Me, set to the poem Echo by Christina Rossetti.
The performance will also include a guest appearance by NordKor, a local youth choir directed by Melissa Shallberg. Their set features a variety of selections, including Dona Nobis Pacem, All Things Bright and Beautiful, and arrangements from The Sound of Music and Swinging on a Star.
Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door for adults, with student tickets available for $5. Advance tickets can be purchased from choir members, at Prairie Aromatics/Soyphisticated Candles in Mason City, or online at unavocis.org.
