Iowa Drivers Feeling Pain at the Pump as Gas Prices Climb

Gas prices across Iowa surged overnight as the ongoing war with Iran continues to drive fuel costs higher nationwide.
According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa now stands at $4.14. That marks a 20-cent increase from just a day earlier, while prices are now 60 cents higher than a month ago and more than $1 above what drivers were paying at this time last year.
The spike comes as global oil markets react to escalating tensions in the Middle East. Since the conflict with Iran began in late February, the national average gas price has climbed nearly 50%, putting added pressure on consumers already dealing with rising summer travel costs.
Many drivers say the sharp increase is forcing them to rethink travel plans and household budgets as peak vacation season gets underway. Analysts warn prices could remain elevated if instability in the region continues.
