Gov. Reynolds Accepts Resignation of IPERS CEO Greg Samorajski

DES MOINES — Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Thursday that she has accepted the resignation of Greg Samorajski, former chief executive officer of the Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System (IPERS).

According to the governor’s office, Samorajski submitted his resignation on May 1, and it became effective immediately. He had been placed on administrative leave on March 31.

Reynolds has directed the Iowa Department of Administrative Services to begin a nationwide search for a new IPERS chief executive officer. The IPERS Investment Board will participate in the recruitment and hiring process, the governor’s office said.

Elizabeth Hennessey, IPERS general counsel, will continue serving as acting CEO during the transition. Reynolds appointed Hennessey to the interim role after Samorajski was placed on leave earlier this year.

IPERS administers retirement and benefits programs for Iowa’s public employees, including teachers, law enforcement officers and other government workers across the state.
