Livermore Man Sentenced to 125 Years After Guilty Pleas in Multiple Sexual Abuse Cases

DAKOTA CITY, Iowa — A Livermore man has been sentenced to 125 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of second-degree sexual abuse in Humboldt and Pocahontas counties.
According to a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Nathaniel Lee Depew entered guilty pleas on May 5 in Humboldt County District Court following investigations into sexual abuse allegations.
Authorities said the investigation began after a victim came forward to law enforcement in May 2025. Depew was arrested Aug. 15, 2025.
During the court hearing, Depew pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree sexual abuse, Class B felonies, connected to the Humboldt County investigation. He also pleaded guilty to two additional counts of second-degree sexual abuse filed in Pocahontas County.
The Humboldt County case was prosecuted by Iowa Assistant Attorney General Travis Conder, while the Pocahontas County charges were prosecuted by Pocahontas County Attorney Dan Feistner.
Judicial District 2 Chief Judge Amy Moore presided over the hearing. Depew had previously requested immediate sentencing, which was carried out following the guilty pleas.
After hearing a victim impact statement from the Humboldt County victim and reviewing a statement submitted by the mother of the victims in Pocahontas County, Moore sentenced Depew to 25 years on each of the five counts.
The judge ordered all five sentences to be served consecutively, totaling 125 years in prison. Under Iowa law, Depew must serve 70% of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office said several agencies assisted in the investigation, including the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Iowa Attorney General’s Office, Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, Fort Dodge/Webster County Cyber Crimes Unit, MercyOne Child Advocacy Center, Humboldt County Attorney’s Office, Humboldt County Information Technology Department, Humboldt Hospital Emergency Department and the Livermore Fire Department.
