Carolyn Marie Levenhagen

Ankeny-Carolyn Marie Levenhagen, 81, formerly of Clear Lake, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2026, at UnityPoint Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2026, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 First Avenue North, Clear Lake, Iowa, with Quinton Decker officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City, Iowa.  Memorials may be directed in care of the family.

Carolyn was born July 31, 1944, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin and Margaret (Nielsen) Anderson. She attended Clear Lake schools and graduated from Clear Lake High School with the Class of 1964. Following high school, she worked as a waitress at the Lake Crest Café and later at the Clear Lake Bakery until its closure. In 2001, Carolyn moved to Des Moines to be closer to family and worked at Walgreens in Johnston until her retirement.

Carolyn enjoyed being social and was known as a true social butterfly. She loved spending time with her groups of friends, playing cards and bingo, and cherished attending her grandchildren’s school events. She was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and member of Hickman Road Church of Christ in Des Moines.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sherri (Todd) Olson; grandchildren, Alexander Olson, Ethan Olson (Spencer Silver), and Abby Olson; her great-grandson, Henry Olson; brothers, Dennis (Marcia) Anderson, and David (Judy) Anderson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Margaret Anderson and her brother, Gary Anderson.
