Rock Falls Woman Critically Injured in Mitchell County Rollover Crash, Airlifted to Mayo Clinic

MITCHELL COUNTY, Iowa — A Rock Falls woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, after being pinned beneath an off-road vehicle that rolled onto its side on Mitchell Line Street near Foothill Avenue Saturday evening, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The crash was reported at 7:55 p.m. Saturday, the Patrol said in a minimal crash report.
Billi Dodge, 53, of Rock Falls, was ejected from the vehicle and pinned underneath it, according to the report. She was flown by MercyOne Air to Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester with life-threatening injuries. Neither Dodge nor the driver, Joseph Smith, 34, of Mason City, was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, the report states.
According to the Patrol’s summary of the crash, Smith was driving a 2018 Mahindra Roxor westbound on Mitchell Line Street near Foothill Avenue when he moved over for an oncoming vehicle. The Roxor left the roadway with its passenger-side tires, struck a culvert and rolled onto its side, the report said. Both occupants were ejected in the crash.
The vehicle was towed from the scene by Lake Towing.
Iowa State Patrol Trooper Thompson, of Post 8, investigated the crash. The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office and Floyd County authorities, according to the report.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
