Timing Right for Decorah Man’s $39,000 Lottery Win, $100,000 Powerball Ticket Sold In Saint Ansgar Still Unclaimed

A northeast Iowa man says his lottery win of more than $39,000 came at the perfect time.

Dan Kirkeby of Decorah won a jackpot prize of just over $39,000 in the MONOPOLY™ Game Tokens Progressive InstaPlay game. He purchased his winning ticket at the Kwik Star at 905 Short Street In Decorah.

Kirkeby told the Iowa Lottery that the win was “nice because my wife’s car died. I’ve got to get her a car, so now I’ve got the money.”

Besides a new vehicle for his wife, Regina, Kirkeby said he has his eyes on two other sets of wheels: a pair of e-bikes for him and his wife to “scoot around town.”

Meanwhile, the winner of a $100,000 Iowa Powerball ticket sold in north Iowa in June is still unknown.

The Iowa Lottery says someone purchased the winning ticket June 20th at the Casey’s in Saint Ansgar. Still, as of Friday (07.31), no one has come forward to redeem their prize.

And no winner has been identified for $50,000 Powerball ticket sold last week at the Kwik Star at 2501 4th Street Southwest in Waverly.
