Mason City to Flush Hydrants in Northwest Quadrant Sept. 29–Oct. 9

MASON CITY, Iowa — The City of Mason City Water Supply Division will flush water mains in the northwest quadrant of the city, an area west of Federal Avenue and north of Highway 122, from Tuesday, Sept. 29, through Friday, Oct. 9, city officials said.
Water customers in the area may notice discoloration after crews flush the mains, but officials said the water remains safe to drink. Residents are urged to use caution when washing laundry during the flushing period, as discolored water may cause staining.
The public is asked not to park near or across from fire hydrants in the affected area while flushing is underway, according to the city.
Residents with questions may contact the Water Supply Division at 641-421-3675.
Jim Collins is the city’s public works director.
